BRAUNTON’S pre-season preparations have been hampered by the doubtful fitness of skipper Ian Roberts.
Roberts kept Braunton in the B Division last year as they battled to avoid a second successive relegation.
His knees have suffered over the years though and he may not be able to play regularly this season.
The club were due to meet last night to discuss the situation and Jon Baglow is on standby to take over if necessary.
Veteran stumper Wayne Manning has been approached to keep wicket if Roberts does not make it.
Some good news for Braunton is that former Somerset 2nd XI and Devon pacer Iain Bond is likely to play more often this season.
Bond prefers to bat rather than bowl these days and will be a welcome addition to the overall strength.
Braunton also have hopes of seeing more of batter Andy Paddison, who came back towards the end of last season after a break from the game.
