Barton reach Brockman final for first time in 32 years
BARTON are through to the Brockman Cup final for the first time in 32 years after brushing side Babbacombe by seven-wickets in the delayed semi-final.

Babbacombe were held to 84 for eight in 20 overs at Stoke Gabriel – no one making more than Matt Passmore (21).

The batters were tied down by Pete Gartrell (2-10) and Tom Drake, who took two for 15 against his former club.

Barton won at a canter, led home by Shaun Adderley with an unbeaten 28. Drake made 24 and Dale Adderley 17.

Waiting for Barton in Friday night’s final at Torquay Recreation Ground are Lustleigh, who are no strangers to being there as the won six on the trot between 1996-2001.

Barton’s last appearance in the final was in 1980, when they were 25-run losers to Abbotskerswell. They last won the trophy in 1977 when Geoff Cox (57) and Ted Davenport (3-12) were the men of the moment in a 34-run win over Torquay Nomads.
