B Division 2nd XI: Parsons has Bideford in a spin!

B DIVISION 2nd XI

BRIXHAM made the long trip to Bideford worthwhile by coming back with a 75-run win.

Adam Edwards (53) and Rhys Dallow (50no) both made half-centuries, and there was a near miss for Tim Robinson (48) in Brixham’s total of 229 for six.

Elliot Binns (62) did as well as anyone for Bideford, but a seven-wicket spell from colt Matt Parsons (7-41) sent the home side spinning to 154 all out.

Kingsbridge went down by one wicket at Yelverton in a low-scoring affair.

Opener and captain Shaun Taylor made a top score of 37 for Kingsbridge in a total of 115 all out at soggy Langton Park.

Taylor batted through until the fall of the ninth wicket, for which he put on 26 with Jerome Innocent (18).

Left-armer Andy Taylor finished with five for 19 and Tony Carter fiddled out figures of three for 22. Some good close catching helped.

Yelverton raced to 71 without loss in reply as Will Chapman and Rob Bennett put bat to ball.

Bennett was the main aggressor, racing to 50 out of the first 63 scored. Three wickets fell on 71 – Bennett among them for 57 – and from then on the game changed.

Kings skip Mark Edmonds (4-24) and Taylor (3-35) reduced Yelverton to 103 for seven. Game on.

Yelverton captain Chris Pearson was adjudged lbw with the score 111 for nine.

Last pair Dom Rushton and Carter squeezed out the five runs needed to win.

Said Pearson: “Who say's low-scoring cricket matches aren't exciting?"
