CHAGFORD need to find bit more bite in their bowling when they visit Stoke Gabriel this Saturday. That’s the verdict from skipper Del Lammonby after the Moorlanders did everything but beat Kingsbridge in their opening fixture.
Chagford hoisted a competitive 209 all out in the final over with Lammonby (60) and Gary Sizmur (64) putting on 93 for the fourth wicket.
Kingsbridge too the next six wickets for just 49 runs with Chris Bowles (4-35) and Bhanu DaSilva (3-52) doing damage.
Kingsbridge meandered to 167 for eight in reply with Rich Carr (43) and Dan Hardy (27) the leading run getters.
Lammonby and Neil Rowlands took three wickets each.
“Once we got Kingsbridge 83 for five they lost interest and just used up the over,” said Lammonby.
“I tried changing it around, but we couldn’t get the last couple of wickets we needed.”
STOKE Gabriel made the long trip to Bideford for little reward as they were on the wrong end of a six-wicket defeat.
Stoke’s new opening pairing of Bill Alcock and Andy Lockyer put on 63 for the first wicket, of which Alcock made just eight. Lockyer had 49.
Andy Scott (44) and Jack Tolley (34) notched 54 for the third wicket, then Neil Robinson chipped in with 27 towards a total of 190 for seven. Pick of the bowlers was spinner James Ford with five for 29.
Bideford never looked back after Matt Allin (76no) and Andy Webb (52) put on 95 for the second wicket.
There were two wickets each for Scott and Sean Dwyer, but little either could do to prevent Bideford winning with 10 overs to spare.
