IPPLEPEN II lost for only the second time this season and it also saw them removed from top spot! They were bowled out for 144 at Barnstaple and Pilton II where only Jonny Ranjit (34) and Keith Bell (25) put up much resistance as Chris Newton (4-44) and braces of wickets from Sean Cole, James Russell and James Rowe saw to the Barum wicket taking effort. Robert Wilkins then hit an unbeaten 57 in support of James Rowe (60no) and the pair saw Barum to an eight wicket win with a 115 run unbroken third wicket partnership. Keith Bell (2-13) claimed both Barum wickets to fall.

Ottery St Mary II lost for only the third time but the nine points they accrued from their 18 run home defeat to Clyst St George II were still sufficient to take them to the top of the table! Craig O’Dwyer (78) and Sean Middleton (55) led Clyst St George to 231-9. Zac Johns (3-46 and Rob Crabb (2-34) did the bulk of the wicket taking for the Otters. At 12-3 the reply was in deep trouble but then Rob Crabb and Robert Bradshaw-Smith took the total of 132 before Crabb went for 82. His innings included a dozen 4s and one 6. Bradshaw-Smith stuck around but the Otters lost three wickets with the score on 167 and then, when Bradshaw-Smith was seventh man out for a splendid 70, the run chase was effectively ended and the final wicket fell at 213.

Mithun Banik-Mazumder was again the star of the show with the ball for the Bohea Field side with 3-39.

Cornwood III became the third of the Divisions top three to lose when they went down by eight wickets at Clyst Hydon II who may yet muscle their way into a promotion berth. Duncan Scythe claimed 5-36 as the visitors were bowled out for 155 and then Heffen Wood (46), Richard Martin (38no) and Rob O’Connell (32no) combined to see the Mid Devon side to a comfortable win.

Axminster II were celebrating on Saturday night at their Cloakham Lawns headquarters after the secured their first of the Francis Clark Devon league season at the thirteenth time of asking.

Visitors Thorverton II batted first and closed on a healthy 233-7 with Neil Anning (54) and N Davey (39no) were the principle run getters whilst Alan Ostler claimed 3-47 in eleven overs and Dan Fuzzard finished with 2-28 from his nine overs.

The post tea session was dominated by Sean Perry who went on to hit a match winning unbeaten 121. Perry smashed no fewer than eleven 6s and nine 4s and the run chase lasted just 33 overs! Michael Wakeley hit 52 and the other not out batsmen when the win was confirmed was Dan Murnane with 14.

Ben Pitman claimed 6-15 and Kieron Elland took 4-20 as Ivybridge were bowled out for 82 in 37.1 overs at Plymouth Civil Service and Roborough II. Dan Saunders then hit the top score of 30 in the run chase and his twin Chris scored the winning runs, striking a boundary to finish unbeaten on 12 as the hosts won by 7 wickets.
