C Division - Scott in good nick

C DIVISION

LEADERS Ipplepen had runs on the board against Bideford, but didn’t get the chance to get stuck into their promotion rivals.

After Maritz Hartmann (51) and Dave Harris (44) had put on 80 for the second Pens wicket, Jack Lewis (61no) and Joe Abbot (39) weighed in with 75 for more for the fifth.

With Bideford chucking in 58 extras, Pens got to 257 for six.

Bowling wise there were three wickets for Josh King and two for Jack Hockin.

Bideford only got as far as 25 for none when it rained.

Pens are away to Ivybridge this Saturday.

CLYST Hydon’s game against Ashburton could have gone either way when it was called off.

Hydon misfired their way to 162 for nine against tidy bowling from Ashes pair Ashley Harvey (4-36) and Gordon Colwill (3-19).

Ian Sutton (30) and Chris Jelley (27) got Hydon up to 89 for two, but a mini slump to 107 for five caused havoc.

Matt Fitt (24no) and Clinton Lewis (20) got Hydon up to 162 for nine.

Ashburton went off in hot pursuit and were 71 for two after 10 overs. Kevin Nicholls (42) led the way for Ashburton.

Jelley (2-46) and Lewis (3-21) bowled Clyst back into the game, which was on a knife edge when it was called off with Ashes on 140 for six.

Skipper Sutton takes Clyst Hydon to Clyst St George this Saturday looking for improvements.

“We are not batting in partnerships and until we start scoring more runs we will find it hard winning games,” said Sutton.

Clyst St George were frustrated by the weather in their game against Chagford.

After Chagford had totted up 263 for nine – Del Lammonby (50) and Billy Searle (37) the main run getters – George Randall-Johnson took St George to 190 for four in reply when the rain came.

Chagford go to Bideford this Saturday.

STOKE Gabriel’s Aussie all-rounder Antony Scott is clearly the man in form after he made more runs in the rain-ruined game against Ottery St Mary.

Scott followed his 92 in the Aaron Printer Narracott Cup against Shaldon with 62 more as Stoke made 225 all out against the lowly Otters.

A stand of 108 for the fourth wicket with veteran Neil Robinson (50), plus Andy Lockyer’s 20 and Billy Allcock’s 29 not out, helped Stoke earn maximum batting points.

Will Harrison’s six for 47 took the bowling honours for Ottery.

Ottery were 58 for one with Trevor Griffin unbeaten on 28 when the match was abandoned after 21 overs.

Stoke make the short trip to Kingsbridge this Saturday.

Ottery are away to Ashburton.

KINGSBRIDGE were cut short on the chase in the South Hams derby at Ivybridge – and were going well at the time.

Chris Horwood was the star man for the Bridgers with 101 not out in a total of 239 for eight declared.

Along the way Horwood shared a stand of 91 for the first wicket with Kevin Jacobs and another of 127 with Kelvin Trent (74).

The declaration came two overs early to buy extra time in which to bowl out Kings and win the match. However, Kingsbridge were 47 for none with 32 overs to go and on course for a close finish.
