SRI Lankan big hitter Dhanuja Haturusingha blasted a whirlwind 84 not out to put Clyst Hydon in the driving seat against visiting Hatherleigh.
With Chris Jelley (51) and Graham Trude (58) going along happily, Clyst reached 151 for four.
Then Haturusingha smashed 50 off 14 balls as Hatherleigh’s bowlers felt the lash as Clyst reached 251 for five.
Haturusingha and George Pawley (10) put on 84 for the fifth wicket.
Hatherleigh had a job keeping up with the asking rate as Haturusingha (2-56), Kev Sercombe (2-53) and Phil Milner (3-22) pegged them down.
Simon Gillespie was 79 not out in a total off 213 for eight. Tom Rogers chipped in with 27.
SEATON became the latest side to be beaten by runaway C Division leaders Lewdown, going down by seven wickets.
Batting first, only Reid Maudsley (32) and Mike Wheeler (16) made any progress with the bat and it needed a boost of 29 extras to take the Seaton offering up to 108.
Seaton did well to get 108 having been 50 for six. Maudsley and Ben Morgan (6) put on 50 for the seventh wicket.
Rob Mutch was the pick of the Lewdown bowlers with five for 19.
Ben Copp had Lewdown wobbling at 16 for two, but Kris Harris (52no) and Dave Ball (24) broke the back of the chase.
COCKINGTON’S losing run show no signs of ending as Ivybridge sent them sliding to a 143-run defeat.
Kevin Jacobs (78) and Kelvin Trent (29) put on 76 for the fourth wicket in an Ivbridge total of 223 for eight declared. Chris Greenhouse chipped in with 30.
Jamie Howrihane took three wickets in an over and four for 29 in total for Cockington, who had some bowling back up from Chris Needham.
Peter Needham top scored for Cockington with 39, but no one else made double figures as they slumped to 52 for four them 59 for six and on to 60 all out.
Paul Veale (5-24) took early wickets them Jeewan daSilva (5-3) tidied up the loose ends.
Cockington are 54 points adrift of safety at the foot of the table and could be mathematically relegated by the end of July.
STOKE Gabriel cashed in as Kingsbridge collapsed to register a seven-wicket win towards their quest for promotion.
Kingsbridge wavered from 19 for three to 73 for six and on to 94 all out as Nick Sandbrook (4-27), Simon Phillips (2-17) and Andy Lockyer (2-26) got stuck in.
Ashley Treeby made 24 and James Fletcher 15.
Steve Tolley (34) and Rob Baker (11) got the first 51 runs out of the way. Karl Blackburn (28no) sped Stoke to victory and within 14 points of second-placed Hathereleigh, who could only draw away to leaders Clyst Hydon.
ASHBURTON lost by eight wickets to Bideford, which leaves them stuck in the bottom two.
Ashes laboured early on against Peter Waterman (2-38) and Matt Bettis (2-22) and were 86 for four when Ashley Berry (46) and Kev Nicholls (51) came together. Their stand of 60, plus 29 for Tony Lacey, took the score up to 181 for nine.
Matt Allin then struck and unbeaten 101 for Bideford to lead them to an easy win.
A stand of 76 between Allin and Mike Young (36) left 56 to win with eight wickets in hand.
Allin reached his century with the winning runs without further mishap. Marcus West and Dean Topping took a wicket each for Ashes, who are 14 point astern of Seaton in the scrap to get out of the drop zone.
