With
the wide range of success of the Chance to Shine programme in Devon over the
last 9 years, 2015 appears to be following the a similar trend.
New
clubs entering this years programme of support are; Halberton & Sampford
Peverall CC, Budleigh Salterton CC, Exmouth CC, Ashburton CC, South Brent CC,
and Thorverton CC. In addition to the listed above previous years projects are
continuing to work with schools and drives sustainable partnerships, all be it,
in a trimmed down delivery model from years gone by. In excess of 20 Level 2 or above cricket coaches are delivery sessions on a daily basis throughout the county on playgrounds and playing fields to inspire the next generation to choose cricket as their sport of choice. With
our Schools Development Officer Steve Pritchard Pictured below in post, he has managed to
continue the drive of competitions indoor and outdoor at Primary and Secondary
level meaning that cricket has become far more accessible than it ever has been
previously. Steve has managed to push Teacher Training with in excess of 90
teachers being fully trained since September. Cricket Activators (Young
Leaders) has been high on Steves’ agenda as well, as this is seen as a good
route in to secondary schools, and can then Leaders trained can be used
effectively to run competitions. In 2015
we will have in excess of 90 Cricket Activators fully trained and delivering in
schools and clubs to support cricket, and bolster their CV. Steve has been a
busy man over these last 12 months by also pulling together the ‘Schools Pages’
of the website, hopefully this has the desired effect with schools to make it
easier for a school to enter a competition, find out rules, and book up
training. Click Here to view the Schools Pages
In
the South Dartmoor learning community, Scott Chappell Pictured left below is slowly becoming a
household name with the schools within the region. Scott has now been in post
for the previous three years and the impact of Scott being there is not to be
under estimated. Scott like Steve Pritchard has managed to drive competition,
teacher training, and cricket activators in the area but also form
relationships with the local clubs to help children migrate from the school
environment into clubs. In Scott has worked closely with South Brent CC, Ashburton
CC, South Devon CC, and Shaldon Optimists CC to make sure kids are finding
their way to the local club. This has been reflected in the South Devon Youth
League (Click Here) which has been growing in an unprecedented way over the
past 3 years.
