IPPLEPEN showed they are serious about promotion from the C Division this season by putting Clyst Hydon to the sword.
Rob O’Connell had 109, and there were useful chip ins from Paul Milner (54) and Russ Corney (31) in Clyst’s 274 for five.
O’Connell and Milner put on 130 for the first wicket, the Corney joined O’Connell to rack up another 74.
Tom Cooper was the rock the Ipplpen reply was constructed around. He was out for 99 having put on 77 with Dave Harris and 89 with skipper Simon Tapley (50).
The unlucky Cooper was missed a full toss one run short of his century and was out bowled.
Lee Curtis (30) and Jonny Ranjit made 36 unbroken to win the match with two overs to spare.
Three dropped points in two games is promotion form, not that Tapley wants to think that way.
“We've had a good start but with so many family men in the team the holiday season will effect us greatly,” cautioned Tapley.
