Devon on top at tea against Cornwall
DEVON are in a commanding position at tea chasing 248 to win at Exeter against Cornwall.

The tea score from the County Ground is Devon 116 for three after 35 overs with Peter Bradley, Rob Holman and David Lye the men out so far.

Bradley was bowled by Kelvin Snell for four while Holman fell to some sharp glove work by Taylor Williams off the bowling of Cornwall captain Tom Sharp.

Lye, dropped before reaching 20, was last out in the penultimate over before the interval when he has a bash at Sam Hockin and edged the ball into his own stumps.

Josh Bess (0) and Seb Benton (31) are the not out batsmen.

Minor Counties Cricket is played to a time format and the clock is definitely on Devon’s side.

Cornwall have to bowl for another 50 minutes – that’s around 15 overs at their present rate of progress – before going into the compulsory last hour when 17 overs have to be bowled.

Devon’s target is 132 to win from at least 30 overs and maybe a few more. With wickets in hand they will resume as favourites.

Cornwall, 160 for six overnight, added 23 after the delayed start at 11.15 before losing Neil Curnow to a catch in the gulley off Mark Orchard.

Next man in Kelvin Snell was in and out for a single in seven balls, departing when Lye removed him lbw.

Tom Hughes, 42 not out overnight, went on to make a patient 70 before he came out to spinner Chris Bradley and was stumped.

Shakil Ahmed (26no) and last man Sam Hockin (5no) saw Cornwall through the final three and half overs before lunch to take the score to 240 for nine.

Devon needed just 10 balls after lunch to winkle out the last pair, Matt Golding trapping Shakil lbw for a dogged 27 off 63 balls in 80 minutes.
