D DIVISION

Yelverton are the early pace setters in the D Division after their six-wicket win at Plymouth Civil Service and Roborough made it two maximum point victories from two outings. The hosts batted first and were bowled out for 149 with only Paul Elsey (46) and Greg Bridgett (39) making much impression with Kevein Treweeks the leading wicket taker for Yelverton with 4-21. Steve Luffman then led the run chase with an unbeaten 70. J Sharp picked up two of the four wickets to fall from the hosts.

Mark Prideaux led Filleigh to a second straight win with 81 as hosts Halberton and Sampford Peverell were beaten by seven wickets. The Mid Devon side bated first and closed on 213-7 with Tom Sambrook top scoring with 52 whilst the best supporting knocks came from James Maise (41) and Dan Coles (40). John Hickman took 2-40 for Filleigh who then cruised home led by that Mark Prideaux knock. Simon Prideaux (44) and Seb Lebarth (41) also chipped in.

Honiton skipper Kev Kelly went to the wicket with his side 24-6 and staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat in their East Devon derby at hope to Whimple. Kelly made the decision to look to occupy the crease for the remainder of his side’s innings whilst at the opposite end Phil Tansley got on with the task of putting bat to ball!

The pair took the score to 134 at the close and no further wickets were lost! Tansley finished unbeaten on 67 and Kelly had 34 to his name. Will Cleal took 4-19 for Whimple.

Tansley then showed what a match-winning all-rounder he is as he claimed 4-18 whilst Robert Ingram also took four wickets, his for a mere six runs in five overs as Whimple were bundled out for 84 with only Pete Gillard and Kev Thompson making any impression, both scoring 14.

COCKINGTON travel to Plymouth CS&R this Saturday still looking for their first league win of the season after going down by 86 runs to Countess Wear.

James Bogue (66) and Mark Davey (43) led the Exeter side to 153. Steve Mudge copped 3-41 for Cockington, but then only Scott Colgate (34) made much impression as a trio of Countess Wear bowlers each bagged a three-wicket haul.

Kav Diaz led the way with 3-18, Adam Brook took 3-20 and Jason Woods claimed 3-26 as Cockington slipped to 67 all out.

Seaton Skipper Ben Morgan claimed his second successive six-wicket haul as Seaton won the East Devon derby against Feniton at Court Lane.

The all-important toss was won by Morgan who did not hesitate to put the visitors in. Brian Cann (40) batted very well, but became one of six more wickets for the Seaton skipper who finished with 6-21 to make it 12-56 in two games this term! John Waterhouse then hit an unbeaten 29 and Mike Wheeler, one of four Seaton players to claim a wicket in support of Morgan, chipped in with 25.
