D DIVISION
LEADERS Ipplepen overwhelmed Halberton by 122 runs to stay on station 10 points clear at the top of the D Division.
Sam deFriend clouted 83 and Luke Tuckett weighed in with 25 as the table toppers reached 211 all out.
There were three wickets each for Jon Geary and Halberton skipper Dan Coles.
Other than 31 from Paul Robins, a sorry procession of Halberton batters failed to come off.
Star of the show for Ipplepen with five for 18 was skipper Keith Wakeham, who was supported by Paul Thomas (2-24).
Fenniton suffered a third defeat in five D Division outings when beaten by 14 runs at Acland Park by Ottery St Mary.
Batting first, the visitors were denied maximum batting points as they closed on 193-9 with Jon Pyle performing a hat-trick as he retuned figures of 4-34.
The reply was hit by wickets falling at vital times with only Adrian Pullen (38) and Rob Pfeiffer (34), able to make much impression in a total of 179 all out.
Sam Loud claimed a four-wicket haul for the Otters.
Whimple dipped to a second successive heavy defeat as they went down by five wickets at Yelverton.
Batting first, only Dave Chamberlaine (41) and Will Cleal (38) made any impression as the final Whimple wicket fell on 184.
Having been 76 for one when Chamberlaine got out, it was a disappointing total for Whimple.
The flight and guile of Yelverton spinners Matt Tamsett (3-38) and skipper Rich West (3-34) proved too much for the Whimple middle order with only Richard Brown (20) and Cleal making much headway in a partnership of 52 for the seventh wicket.
Rob Bennett (3-40) returned to polish off the tail.
Openers Will Chapman and Rob Bennett got Yelverton to 65 without too much trouble.
A mix-up saw Bennett run out for 40 and Chapman was joined by Colin Broughton and the pair added 49 for the second wicket before Chapman fell for 34 with score on 114.
Jono Burden (3-46) had the middle order reeling before Broughton (45) and Geoff Brain (44no) saw off the threat.
Whimple, who find themselves closer to the bottom two than the pace makers in the D Division, have a wonderful opportunity to return to winning ways on Saturday when they host basement dwellers Bridestowe who have yet to win a game and have banked just 29 points from their five outings so far.
Countess Wear dipped to a nine-wicket defeat against Plymouth CS &R in a one-sided encounter.
Peter Darke (65) and Kaveenga Dias (61) were the main run getters in the Wear’s respectable 200 for eight.
Dan Winsor (4-38) and Ben Williams (3-52) had the best of the bowling figures.
Brian Gaylard lashed 91 not out, and Jason Williams was not far behind on 86, as Civil won at a gallop.
The Moorland derby between Bridestowe and Whitchurch went right down to the wire before ending in a draw.
Lee Jutson made 36 and Tom Fogerty 33 for Bridestowe, who were bowled out for 197 with Barriball taking four for 53.
Justin returned with the ball to take four for 55 as Whitchurch (180-9) lingered on the chase.
