Devon gain revenge over Oxfordshire

Devon U17 Girls (163 - 6) beat Oxfordshire U17 Girls (60 all out) by 103 runs

On Thursday August 13th Devon U17 Girls played their return match against Oxfordshire at Blundells, Tiverton. The match was crucial to both sides as the winners would probably win the ECB U17 Women’s West League and go forward to the national quarterfinals.

Devon batted first and right from the start batted positively against Oxfordshire’s varied bowling attack that had won the last three games for Oxfordshire. The innings of the day was played by Giselle Ansley, who showed excellent shot selection in scoring 65 not out off 71 balls.

Oxfordshire in reply were soon in trouble as three wickets fell for 8 runs during excellent opening spells by Jodie Dibble and Giselle Ansley. Off-spinner Becky Piddock then ensured an early finish with four wickets for 1 run.

Giselle Ansley won the “woman of the match” award for scoring 65 not out and then taking 2 for 5. Fi Morris was Oxfordshire’s player of the match for her intelligent off spin bowling and scoring 18 not out.
