Devon ease past Staffs to set up T20 group win
Devon recorded their second straight win of the T20 and one that would prove critical as they eased past favourites Staffordshire by eight wickets. After winning the toss Devon elected to bowl and were well aware of the dangers that lay ahead with Francesca James and Penny Thane opening the batting for Staffs. These fears proved correct as James plundered 32 from just 18 balls, including two sixes and four fours. Her dismissal brought a calm to proceedings as she was caught by Giselle Ansley off the bowling of Nicole Richards and from there Thane struggled to keep up the momentum as Devon brought Staffs' run rate back to a manageable run a ball. Ansley was to claim two more catches as Richards picked up another wicket and Heather Knight claimed 3-8 from her 3 overs as Staffs had to settle for 90-5 from their 15 overs.

Giselle Ansley and Heather Knight started brightly adding 20 in quick time, before the loss of Ansley and then Knight left Devon on 20-2. Then came the partnership of the whole day really as skipper Lottie Miles and keeper Amara Carr came together to put on an unbeaten 63 for the 3rd wicket, Carr making 39 from 35 balls, including four boundaries with Miles making an unbeaten 27 from 27 balls, to complete a comprehensive 7 wicket victory with nine balls to spare and virtually assure promotion to Div 3 next season.
