Devon claim second win to finish runners up
Devon claimed their second win of the Festival to secure runners up behind Essex at the Kings Festival. After being asked to bat first they put in a polished batting display as all of the top five made significant contributions. Frances Lausen played the anchor role as Emily Robinson and Jodie Dibble made quickfire scores of 17 and 15 respectively and then helped take the score to 108 with Giselle Ansley before being bowled for 41. Heavy rain interupted proceedings and at 89-2 with 13 overs left Devon would need to press on at the resumption. They did this magnificently as Ansley (56 no) and Rebecca Piddock (39 no) added 80 runs in the last 10 overs to post a score of 188-3 from their 40 overs.
Devon made early inroads into the Wales batting depsite a bright start from openers Taylor and Shaw. Both however were got out by Giselle Ansley and Tessa Dibble and thereafter it was the turn of slow bowlers Rebecca Piddock and Polly Carr to remove the middle and lower order as Piddock claimed 4-21 and Polly Carr 2-10. Amelia Sydenham picked up the last wicket as Wales were bowled out for 90.
