A day to remember, but to try and forget!
Devon’s reply started off on the wrong foot with some lazy running in the first over contributing to Toby Codd being run out. The Gloucestershire attack then found some rhythm and bowled with excellent discipline and control. The two openers bowled 5 maidens in the first 10 overs between them. Each of the change bowlers then came on and bowled with the same accuracy with their Leg Spinner taking 4 for 12 from 7 overs!
Gloucestershire’s control with the ball paid dividends as each of the Devon wickets taken all came from players trying to find gaps or hit over the top! Only Sam Lathwell – Braunton 25 spending any prolonged time at the crease.
Devon were eventually bowled out for 97 in the 35th over.
A disappointing day at the office and one which hopefully showed the Devon bowlers how good, straight bowling can be so effective and any level of the game!
Our thanks to Gloucestershire and Newent CC for hosting us on a beautiful day! Also a big thank you to everyone who made the trip up from Devon!
