Devon 17s Girls make National Finals
Devon U17 girls comprehensively beat local neighbours Somerset to finish with a 100% record and top Performance Group 3 and reach the National U17 Count Championship finals. Having restricted Somerset to 159-7 from their 45 overs, a 148 run 3rd wicket partnership between Lydia Harris (81) and Jemma Horton (35) saw Devon to a place in Finals weekend at Leamington CC where they will face unbeaten group winners Sussex and Lancashire together with the best runner up Warwickshire. Semi Finals are on Saturday 21st September with the Final and 3rd/4th place play off on the 22nd.
This caps what has a been decent season all round for Devon’s women’s cricketers, should they retain their Division 2 status, the U15 girls reached the U15 National T20 finals and the senior side won their T20 group to gain promotion to Division 1 South and West.
Added to that representative honours for Amara Carr who has represented both the England Women’s Academy and England U19s. Fellow Exeter University student Aylish Cranstone has also represented the U19s, whilst Cait O’Keefe, Alli Kelly, Lydia Harris and Rebecca Bertrand played in the U19 Development Regional Competition this summer. Jessie Jones, Millie Squire and Lily Helston also represented the county in the U15 Development competition.
