PLYMPTON’S veteran all-rounder Keith Donohue is going to wheel himself into the frontline one last time in a bid to keep the club safe from relegation.
Donohue, who will be 48 next birthday, retired from 1st XI cricket at the end of last season and has confined himself to the odd 2nd XI outing since then.
Plympton are short-handed for the derby clash with Plymouth tomorrow, which they could do with winning to get out of the bottom two.
So when skipper Andy Walter as the ex-Devon and Minor Counties XI stalwart to help out, Donohue reached for the liniment and support bandages!
“I have I will help out for a couple of games as we are on our knees player wise, but that’s definitely going to be my lot,” said Donohue.
“Although we have had a tough season, lads like Chris Bunney, Ryan Skinner, Alex Carr and Josh Mailling have come on leaps and bounds.
“They are the future of our club and if I can do something at the end of my career to help them at the start of theirs then it will be worthwhile.”
