DEVON Dumplings found themselves on the end of a second defeat in the week having again failed to defend a hefty total.
Batting first the Dumplings exploited the fast outfield and shortish boundaries at Kilmington to rack up 293 for 8 in their 40 overs.
Fifteen sixes and 25 fours were hit but the running was Dumplingesque. Hugh Romans fired 90 off 73 balls and Chris Kelmere 63 in 49 balls with Graham White adding a solid 32. For the School K Setai bagged 4 for 32 at the end of the innings.
The School batters were far from intimidated by the big chase ahead and started positively reaching 130 for 3 after 20 overs.
B Letts then took over, smashing a rapid match winning 143 off just 73 balls until he was brilliantly caught by Chris Kelmere.
The School then needed 21 to win in 3.2 overs but their number 9, B Chernas, hammered 2 sixes and 3 twos to win the game abruptly with 10 balls still to go.
Ben Copp took 3 for 50 and the Dumplings achieved 3 run outs.
