Luffman junior cracks ton against Dumplings

THE DEVON Dumplings suffered at the hands of Plymouth College Old Boys in a 40-over game.

Although they lost a wicket in the first over, the Old Boys cracked on to make a huge total of 367 for six.

Guest Luke Jury (74) and Jake Luffman (99) put on 164 in 20 overs - and there was no respite for the Dumplings' bowlers after getting them out.

Andy Birkett, the former Cornwall player, made 73 and Danny Lee 71 not out as the running total rose.

Sam Stein (2-52) and Pasi Mawalage (2-68) were the most successful of the Dumplings bowlers.

The Dumplings made an encouraging start that saw them reach 136 for three at the midpoint. Ben Ferro, who eventually made a hundred led the way.

The reply faltered as middle-order batsmen threw their wickets away.

Mawalage produced a late flourish of 51, but it wasn't enough as Birkett (3-27) and Jury (3-13) kept nipping out batsmen.

The Dumplings were all out for 235 off the final ball of the game, which they lost by 132 runs.

   OPMs 367-6 (A Birkett 73, D Lee 71no, J Luffman 99, L Jury 74; S Stein 2-52, P Mawalage 2-68), Devon Dumplings 235 (B Ferraro 100, P Mawalage 51; L Jury 3-13, A Birkett 3-27). OPM bt Devon Dumplings by 132 runs.
