Heather Knight put in a polished display as she batted superbly to make 129 from 36 balls. After the late withdrawal of two players due to illness and work commitments the visitors were left with 10 players but did not let that affect them. Asked to bat first Knight and Olivia Anderson added 63 for the 1st wicket, making good use of the opening powerplay before Anderson fell in the 13th over. This was the opening wicket of a super hat trick for Sally Green as she then bowled Amara Carr and had Giselle Ansley caught down the leg side to stun Devon and put them back on their heels. Skipper Lottie Miles then came in and despite only making 2 calmed things down in a stand of 35 with Knight. She was dismissed caught behind off the bowling off Sara Sribala-Sundaram, who bowled 10 overs of very good left arm spin. Nicole Richards then came in and played a super supporting role to Knight as they added 124 for the 5th wicket before Sally Green came back to bowl Knight as she attempted to force the pace in the batting powerplay. Richards finished unbeaten on 36no. Sally Green although expensive and Sara Sribala-Sundaram were the pick of the Derbyshire bowling.
Derbyshire's reply got off to a steady start as openers Nina Marshall and Christelene Steinhobel added 28 before Marshall skied a full toss straight to Giselle Ansley from the bowling of Nicole Richards. Steinhobel was joined by Hayley Glenn and together they took the score to 87-1 at the 25 overs drinks break. The game was fairly well balanced and it needed a response from the visitors which they produced as they claimed 9 wickets for 69 runs. Spinners Richards and Piddock struggled somewhat bowling into a strong wind as Devon rotated their seamers at the other end, but nevertheless this allowed the seamers to best use the strong wind. Piddock claimed 3-36 and Heather Knight 2-17. Rebecca Donohue returned to take the crucial wicket of Hayley Glenn as the home side's innings fell away as Devon ran out winners by 80 runs. A good fielding effort with a player short including two good run outs and a superb catch from Amara Carr.
