Nottinghamshire hosted Devon on the second leg of their pre-season weekend at Ransome and Marles CC, Newark . Notts fielded both Jenny Gunn and Jane Smit in their ranks as well as Engalnd Academy bowler Jasmine Titmus. Batting first Devon struck an early blow as Giselle Ansley had opener Brown caught by Cathy Griffin at mid on. Jenny Gunn then added 59 with opener Amanda Bacon before Rebecca Donohue returned to have her caught by Marilyn Richards to leave Notts on 71-2. Jane Smit then joined Gunn in a 3 rd wicket partnership of 134, Gunn eventually retiring on 72 before Smit was stumped two short of her half century by Olivia Anderson off the bowling of Clara Nielson. Abby Hawkins made a quickfire 37 to close the Notts innings on 219-4 after 45 overs.
Olivia Anderson and Claire Ramsay could not re-produce the batting heroics of the previous day as Ramsay fell without scoring and when Amara Carr was bowled for 11 just as she looked to be getting going Devon were stuck on 27-2. The ever reliable Nicole Richards joined Anderson and together they added 59, before Richards fell trapped lbw to Garton for 18Giselle Anlsey then joined Anderson as they added a further 43, Anderson completing her half century before being bowled by Jasmine Titmus for 22. The innings somewhat fell away then as Devon slipped from 139-3 to 145-7 and finished on 156-7. A creditable performance against a strong side two Divisions above them in the county championship and especially with players like Heather Knight and Jodie Dibble not available.
