TORQUAY 2nd XI made it three max-points wins in the trot when they trounced bottom side Plymouth by nine wickets.
With bad weather about skipper Rob Jack had a game plan that involved winning the toss and getting Plymouth all out in a hurry.
Jack won the toss and everything else fell into place – and a bonus was that all the teams above the dropped points.
In a division where only one side is promoted, which makes it hard to escape, Torquay are now within 11 points of leaders Ivybridge.
Torquay dismissed Plymouth for 69 in 31 overs. Daman Singh (3-25) and Anthony Nadar (4-30) were the chief destroyers while Oli Hunt (2-4) and Terry King (1-7) also took wickets.
With the rain getting closer, Torquay openers Jack and Josh Hunt sped off the field to change . The race was on to beat the weather - and the tea interval - which would surely mean a cessation?
Josh Hunt fell lbw for two but there was no panic as Jack and Singh (27no) polished off the 70 need in just 10 overs before tea and the heavens opened.
Torquay travel to Chagford this Saturday.
