Axminster blitzed +++ Strawbridge flogs Countess Wear
 

D DIVISION EAST

AXMINSTER 3rd XI were blitzed out for a paltry 38 at Uplyme and Lyme Regis II where Paddy Barraclough (4-10), Mike Holding (3-24) and James Dunford (3-0), did the damage.

Dunford was thrown the ball by acting skipper Eddie Clarke and promptly claimed three wickets for no runs from just five deliveries!

Dunford then hit an unbeaten 20 to lead the host to a seven-wicket win.

North Devon III banked a full house of points with a four wicket Instow success over Kentisbeare.

Gary Benzie top scored with 53 for the Mid Devon side in a total of 184 al out. G Carter claimed 3-18 for the hosts who were led to victory by a knock of 32 from Ben Anger. Tom Wilkinson took 3-43 for the visitors.

Tom Strawbridge put bat to ball with great effect for Honiton II in their game at Countess Wear II.

Strawbridge plundered 77 from just 35 deliveries in a Honiton offering of 204-9. Andy Brinsford then picked up three wickets as the home side were bowled out for 156 and lost by 48 runs,

 

E DIVISION EAST

SEATON II skipper Ian Hunt led by example in his side’s comprehensive 10-wicket win at Kenn.

Hunt claimed five for 12 and hit an unbeaten half-century as the hosts were bundled out for 69.

The skipper then struck an unbeaten 51 to lead his side to a ten wicket win.

Mark Joyce striking a wonderful unbeaten 116 –his first league century - in Upottery II’s total of 340-6 against Kilmington.

Luke Baker then hit 44 in the Kilmington reply of 228-8. The game ended drawn.

Exeter 3rd XI got 20 points for no effort as Civil Service cried off due to team-raising problems.

Topsham St James were on the wrong end of a 164-run drubbing when they went to Halberton

Topsham’s bowlers were put to the sword with Andy Blake scoring 88, Simon Butler 42 and Dan Partridge 40.

The one bright spot for TSJ was the excellent bowling of 14-year-old Joseph McShane, who took 4 for 41 off his 11 overs.

St James’s reply never really got going as wickets fell at regular intervals with only two players reaching double figures. 

Much of the damage was done by S Marshall (5-14) and Butler (3-39).
