About the East Devon Youth Cricket League | |
Formed in 1991 by a handful of clubs, the East Devon Youth Cricket League has grown to approximately 100 teams representing 27 clubs. Leagues are run at under-11, u12, u13, u14, u15 and u17. There are also pairs competitions at u10 and u11, and cup competitions for all the 11-a-side age groups. Girls can play 2 years over-age, e.g. U15 girls can play in the U13 league. In 2012 it is hoped to run an informal league for all girl teams. |
11-a-side matches are played to a 20-over format designed to dovetail into the adult cricket fixture lists of the member clubs whilst providing both enjoyable sport and preparation for higher levels of the game. Most games take place on Sunday mornings or weekday evenings. |
The geographical area covered by the league extends from Axminster in the East to Sandford in the West, and from Heathcoat (Knightshayes, nr Tiverton) in the North, to the South coast. |

Bradleys – sponsors of our league competitions |
Bradleys have been the main sponsors of the East Devon Youth Cricket League since 1998 when they were approached after the main sponsor pulled out at the eleventh hour. With the company mainly focussed in the Exeter and East Devon area the sponsorship with the EDYCL made perfect geographical sense. Local Bradleys Director Mike Dibble (right) plays cricket for Sidmouth and is a big supporter of youth cricket. 'Both my children have played for Sidmouth in the EDYCL and it gave them an excellent start in the game. The League has seen many young cricketers progress to League and County cricket which is fantastic. The clubs all have a superb number of coaches and helpers and I don't think many of the children appreciate how lucky they are to have this set up in the area. The League Management Committee also put in a huge amount of voluntary work which often goes without recognition.' |

Devon County Sports – sponsors of our cup competitions
The East Devon Youth Cricket League is delighted to announce the continuing support of Devon County Sports for another season. DCS will be sponsoring the under-11, -12, -13, -14, -15 and -17 cup competitions. The arrangement kicked off in 2008 under the guise of Somerset County Sports with a trial season which clearly was successful as it is now in its fifth year. DCS MD Richard Brice (right) said 'We are very happy to be continuing our relationship with the East Devon Youth League. As a company specialising in sport we are very committed to the youth of the East Devon region. We have a fantastic team in place which includes former Somerset stars Neil Burns and Keith Parsons and under the guidance of ex Somerset Board player Kevin Sedgebeer, we offer a comprehensive service but at the same time, want to give something back.' 'We are also very happy to send the team out to any of the clubs in the league at any time but most likely on the club's colts training night to put on a road show which gives everyone a chance to look at clothing, kit and bats across all age groups. Devon County Sports have a huge commitment to youth cricket because youth cricket is the life blood and the future of our game. When people fill the ground here, there are always large numbers of kids that are playing colts cricket in their age groups and many of them play in the East Devon Youth Cricket League' |
