IT was a week of upsets in the Island Cricket Exeter T20, with the leaders of both divisions suffering their first defeats of the season.In Division One, Clyst Hydon scored 141-7 from their 20 overs at Exeter, Will Greig top scoring with a quickfire 37.
Exeter chipped in with a generous helping of 34 extras, whilst Jill Clupper dropped anchor for a patient 20 not out.
In reply, Exeter started well with opener Miles Lenygon making 49, but the rate climbed against tidy spells from Greig (3-23) and Clinton Lewis (2-22) as the hosts fell 17 runs short to end their unbeaten run.
In Division Two, Topsham St James were defeated by Exeter Civil Service, also surrendering their 100 per cent record.
Tops posted 113-7 with runs shared around between Sam Skinner (25), Alex Sparkes (23) & Ross Treleaven (22). Rehan Caryl's 2-21 was the pick of the Civil bowling.
In reply, Civil crossed the line with fiv e balls to spare, Aussie Ray Grunsell seeing them home with 30 not after fellow countyman Vic Murphy had opened up with 22.
Joe McShane and Ross Treleaven both took two wickets apiece in vain for the hosts.
