Table-topping Yarcombe were denied action by a waterlogged wicket at Cheriton Fitzpaine.
That gave Babbacombe the chance to close the gap and they took full advantage seeing off visiting Newton St Cyres long before 4pm!
Tim Goodwin took 5-7 in nine overs and Matt Passmore picked up 2-19 before veteran Dave Williams cleaned up removing then last three visiting batsmen in three balls. Williams was brought on so that spinner Paul Bates could change ends - and did the job for him!
Steve Lewis then struck an unbeaten 30 as the table toppers raced to victory.
Culmstock were 60 run winners at Woodbury where they batted first and were bowled out for 156.
Ollie Rowe (61) and Matt Gingell (51) were the principle run scorers with Toby Ingham the chief wicket taker with splendid figures of 7-31.
Only Martin Cook (30) and Danny Lowman (14) made much of an impression in the Woods reply that ended on 96.
Ross Stickland claimed 5-19 for the Mid-Devon side.
Cullompton skipper Mark Ashplant top scored with 57 and Sanjay Rajapakse struck 49 as Cullompton closed on 200-7 at home to Exeter Civil Service.
Prince Xavier (3-18) and Welling (3-28) claimed the bulk of the wickets for the visitors who were 23-2, both wickets falling to run-outs, when Landspeed Meadow was hit by rain and play was abandoned.
They also played to a finish at Kingskerswell where Chardstock were beaten by 121 runs. Mark Andrews (79) and Eric Greggerson (65) put on 136 for the second wicket for the hosts who closed on 192-8.
Chardstock skipper James Hayden took 5-40 for the East Devon side, who were then bundled out for 71 with only Neil Copp (22) making much impression with the bat as Paul Harding took 4-8 in 7.3 overs and Chris Hurrell bagged a brace with figures of 2-1.
