DEVON CUP – JUNE 27
DEPLETED Budleigh Salterton – they fielded six colts to plug gaps in the side – put up a brave fight before going out of the Tony Pryce Sports Devon Cup by 78 runs at Paignton.
With all three of their county players missing – Bob Dawson, Sandy Allen and Ian Bishop – and James Burke required by Somerset, it was always a tall order for Budleigh to get into the quarter-finals.

Tom Field then claimed five for 27 as Budleigh were bowled out for 154 in reply.
All of Paignton’s top seven batsmen reached double figures with Mark Smith (38) and George Benton (32) the best of the rest behind Bryan.
