DARTINGTON & Totnes have a new skipper this season to replace the departed Ryan Stevenson – and some new players as well.
James Howrihane is in charge and has picked up his former Cockington team-mate Gavin Colegate (Ashburton), Adam Huxtable from Ivybridge and Chris Cook from Clyst St George.
Cook is a particularly strong signing for D&T as he has been taking wickets and scoring runs for CSG for the best part of 30 years.
From further afield comes Benjamin Van Niekerk, a South Afrian all-rounder over for the season.
Missing from last year, other than Stevenson, are Will Gornall and Angus Wilson, who have moved to Wales and Cornwall respectively.
Howrihane is crystal clear in his targets.
“With a good start promotion will be the aim,” he said
“We will get stronger as the season goes on as a club due to university students coming back like Jono Colegate and Liam Bligh.”
Howrihane is also expecting Matt Haw to shine on his elevation from the 2nd XI.
