MORE than 80 female cricketers are expected to descend on Exeter on Monday (22nd) and Tuesday to take part in a special MCC
Spirit of Cricket summer camp.Coached by England's cricketer of the year Lydia Greenway, and team-mates Danielle Hazell and Caroline Atkins, the camp is an opportunity for girls to receive coaching from the very best.
The camp - open to girls of all abilities aged 8-14 - will provide a fun environment both for those trying the game for the first time and also for those looking to further develop their skills.
The summer skills camps are all part of a special link between the Cricket Foundation's Chance to Shine supported by Brit Insurance campaign and MCC to deliver the Spirit of Cricket message to youngsters
Chance to Shine is the Cricket Foundation's charitable campaign to regenerate competitive cricket in state schools.
Since its launch in 2005 the campaign has equipped over one million of children across England and Wales with essential cricketing skills.
Andy Fairbairn, Devon's cricket development officer, said: 'Girls' cricket is really on the rise in Devon.
'The fact we've got 80 girls signed up for this camp shows how popular the game is becoming.
'Having three England cricketers here in Exeter I hope will provide our girls with even more inspiration to play at local clubs and perhaps even for Devon?'
