Last Sunday, 13th May, Hatherleigh hosted 10 women’s teams from all over Devon for their annual tournament. These teams were split into 2 leagues with amix of 1st and 2nd division teams in each. The fast-paced matches consisted of 8-player teams playing 6 overs per innings. It was a closely fought competition throughout the day with one league having a three-way tie at the top! Hatherleigh won this group based on their overall runs to wicket ratio through the day and they went on to play the champions from the other league; Whitchurch, in the grand final.
This was an excellent match with Hatherleigh just emerging as winners when Captain Kirsty Tidball smashed a 4 off the second to last ball to win by 5 wickets. It was a fantastic day of cricket, played in a very good spirit and a great advert for ladies cricket throughout Devon!
