DEVON are in action at Instow on Bank Holiday Monday (11am) against Hertfordshire needing a win to keep their Minor Counties KO Cup hopes alive. The group campaign opened two weeks ago against Oxfordshire at Bovey Tracey, when Devon lost by one-wicket in a thrilling finish.
Devon appeared to lack the firepower to kill-off Oxfordshire when they had the chance – and that failing seems to have been addressed in the selections for the Hertfordshire match.
Somerset’s Lewis Gregory (left), who is dual registered with Devon, comes into the squad and is almost certain to play.
Also in is Exmouth left-arm spinner Gary Chappell, who was at a wedding when the last side was picked and could not play.
There is an enforced change in the early order batting where opener Rob Holman is not available due to work commitments.
James Burke moves up from three to open, David Lye is shunted up a place to bat at first wicket down with former Somerset, Notts and England U18 star Matt Wood coming into the side.
Wood, another Devon product, was an ever-present in the one-day team last term.
