EXETER consolidated their position at the top of the Island Cricket Exeter T20 league with a 16-run victory at Thorverton.
Tom Viljoen top scored with 55 as Exeter posted 161-7 from their 20 overs. In reply, the Thors finished on 145-6 with opener George Greed making 37 at the top of the order.
Shobrooke’s game at home to Clyst Hydon was washed out without a ball being bowled.
In Division Two, both Topsham St. James and Alphington remain in the promotion hunt with wins over Met Office and Exeter Civil Service respectively.
St. James opened with 129-2 at the Met Office, Theo Miller with an excellent 81 and good support from Sam Skinner (28). Met Office started well in reply, opener Rami Yedidi making 36, but were pegged back by Ross Treleaven (3-19) despite the best efforts down the order of T Pridhan (36).
At Alphington, the home side posted 166-5 thanks to Ben Morris (54) and Luke Phillips (60). Civil Service went close, with runs from Howard Rose (45) and Nick Rowe (21no), but tidy bowling from all eight of Alphington’s bowlers kept them 11 runs adrift.
