TOPSHAM St James defeated both the weather and Newton St Cyres in the latest round of Island Cricket Exeter T20 matches, as theirs was the only game played in the league!
The Tops batted first and raced to 184-5 from their 20 overs, with Alex Sparkes blasting 72 and supporting roles from Tom Richardson (34) and Theo Miller (31). Tom Dowle (2-30) and Dave Church (2-27) were the pick of St Cyres[‘ bowling.
The visitors never really got going in reply, labouring to 65-6 when their overs ran out, skipper Church top scoring with 24. Callum Treleaven and Brian Jeary both took two wickets apiece for the home side.
