Wicket for Overton on England debut

North Devon's Jamie Overton Plays at Edgbaston

North Devon's Under 17 fast bowling all rounder Jamie Overton made his England Under 19 debut at the recently redeveloped Edgbaston Test Arena. He did it under the full glare of a SKY fully televised match with shots of him in the new dressing room suite and the awarding of his England cap by Nick Knight. England lost a rain affected game reduced to thirty-one overs a side. He had to face the last ball of the England innings and took a single taking England up to 187-7. He then opened the bowling removing a South Africa’s opener caught behind. His alert fielding included one third umpire replay to prove he had stopped the ball clear of the rope. He bowled the penultimate over in the four wicket defeat and watched a massive miss field give victory to the South Africans. He was well supported in Birmingham by his proud family and now he faces a busy programme over the next couple of weeks.
