England starlet Knight drops in on Devon schools

ENGLAND batsman Heather Knight dropped into Galmpton Primary School to get the kids playing cricket during a two-day tour of Devon.

Knight, who used to play for Plymstock before moving to Berkshire, is widely tipped as a future England Ladies captain when the day comes for Charlotte Edwards to step aside.

She visited South Dartmoor College on Tuesday to meet members of the girls’ lunchtime club and meet up with community cricket coach Scott Chappell.

After a session with the girls it was off to Galmpton to launch a new project being run in conjunction with Brixham CC aimed at getting youngster inspired to play the game. Brixham officials George Breyley and Phil Gregory were there to help spread the word.

Wednesday was a busy day for Knight, who visited Plymouth first before returning to Newton Abbot to run girls sessions at Coombeshead College and Newton Abbot College.

Said Knight: “It was good to spend a few days in Devon working for Chance to Shine before heading off to Bangladesh for the World T20.”
