Bank Holiday double-header looms for Devon Ladies
DEVON Ladies will hope to maintain their fine start to the 2014 campaign during a Bank Holiday double-header road trek to Wales and Somerset.

Having dispatched Staffordshire comfortably in their opening game these two fixtures will give a clear indication of where the side is in terms of challenging for the automatic promotion or play-off spot.

A couple of enforced changes are required with Jessie Jones unavailable through England football commitments and Emily Ward with work.

Otherwise the squad remains largely unchanged. Vicky Bowden and Lily Helston come into the 12 for the fixture with Wales whilst Lottie Miles and Claire Varcoe are added for the trip to Somerset.

Sunday’s fixture is at Pontarddulais CC, near Swansea with Monday’s game at the County ground in Taunton, home of Somerset CCC.

Somerset Cricket Board get four community days on the County Ground every season and have nominated one of them for the Devon game.

There will be food and beverage’s available at Taunton and entrance to the ground is free should supporters like to come along and support the girls. Both matches start at 11am.

There will also be at least one person with a foot in both camps, trying to keep a low profile!

Somerset Cricket Board’s development manager is Andy Fairbairn, whose remit includes looking after the Ladies side.

Fairbairn’s wife is the former England international Rosalie Fairbairn, who happens to play for Devon.
