England supremo drops in on Taverners lunches

THE David Shepherd Cricket Foundation has a new supporter right at the top of the game.

Geoff Miller, the England chairman of selectors, was presented with a Shep 111 Club tie at by foundation trustees Stuart Munday and Jack Davey while on a visit to Devon.

Davey and Munday caught up with Miller while he was in Devon speaking at Lord’s Taverners’ lunches in Exeter and Plymouth.

Munday, the chairman of the Devon Cricket League, is the Taverners’ representative in the county.

The Shepherd Foundation was set up by the county club to encourage the development of young players.

Shepherd, the former Test match umpire, played Minor Counties cricket for Devon in the 50s and 60s before joining Gloucestershire.

Davey, one of the foundation trustees, was a team-mate of Shepherd’s with Devon and Gloucestershire.
