Darts through in tie nail-biter

DARTINGTON & Totnes scrambled a single off the last ball of the match to win a thrilling Aaron Printers Narracott Cup game against Stoke Gabriel.

Kris Davis belted a top score of 88 as Stoke made 159 for five in their 20 overs.

Davis shared a stand of 98 for the fourth wicket with Jack Tolley (31) after putting on 39 for the second with veteran Ian Coulton (16).

Ryan Stevenson, last season’s man of the match in the final when D&T lost to Bovey Tracey, took two for 34.

Darts lost opener Brad Mitchell to an early Davis run-out, but after that chipped away at the target effectively.

Bertus Loots (51) and Jimmy Palmer (47) wiped off 90 runs in a stand for the second wicket, with Palmer carrying on until he was third out on 126.

Stevenson (27no) and Angus Wilson (8no) didn’t quite knock off the rest but did do enough to win the match.

Three leg byes off the penultimate ball left two to win and one to tie off the final delivery.

Stevenson and Wilson manage a single, which was enough to win a tied game on fewer wickets lost.

Stoke Gabriel 159-5 (I Coulton 16, K Davis 88, J Tolley 31; R Stevenson 2-34),Dartington & Totnes 159-3 (B Loots 51, J Palmer 47, R Stevenson 27no). Match tied. D&T win on fewer wickets lost.
