All three Division One games failed to be played on the third Sunday of June and that means that 12 of the 27 top flight games scheduled to date this season have now not been completed!

They managed to start in the matches at Barnstaple & Pilton and Hatherleigh, but neither got to the finishing line.

They did not get any play in at Creedy Park, Sandford, where scheduled visitors Braunton cried off in the morning unable to raise a team.

At Barum visiting Newton Tracey were 38-1 looking to get at the home sides 169 all out when the rains arrived with a vengeance. Andrew Barton (46) and James Thomas (41) led Barum to their total. Rob Gear was the star of the bowling effort with five wickets for just seven runs in his nine overs! Bill Sobey was unbeaten on 13 at the premature end with the one Newton Tracey wicket taken by Mark Metters (1-17).

Just half a dozen overs were possible at Hatherleigh where the hosts were 40-2 with Jack Cherrington not out 18 when the weather closed in.

Not a single ball was bowled in any of the three Division Two games with no action possible at Incorrigibles (v Heathcoat), Shebbear (v Beaford) and Weare Giffard Lynton and Lynmouth).

Division Three pace setters Holsworthy continued their one hundred per cent season with a whopping 143-run win at North Devon II. Jack Greening (84), Darren Jenkin (42) and Ryan Walter (30) combined to see their side to 233-6 and then Walter claimed 4-14 as the Instow men were bundled out for 90. Robert Mitchell (2-11), Jack Greening (2-12) and Ben Hutchings (2-29) were the other wicket takers for Holsworthy.

There was a cracking game played out at Bideford where Bratton Fleming were just 23 runs short when they completed their chase to tackle the hosts’ 267-8. Fred King (95), brother Josh King (58) and Mike Young (56) were the principle run getters for Bideford whilst Oliver Hunt was the main wicket taker for the visitors with 3-50. Steve Ayre (60), Ollie Hunt (59) and Murray Sharpe (37) then combined to take Bratton Fleming mighty close.

In Division Four North Molton knocked Westleigh off the top of the table inflicting only a second defeat of the season on the morning’s table toppers. James Corry hit an unbeaten 42 in the Westleigh total of 94 which North Molton sailed past without losing a wicket thanks to Joseph Noble (51no) and Dominic Ford (33no).

Division Five leaders Bishop Nympton maintained their perfect record with a 33 run win in a low scoring affair at home to Nomansland. Toby Lockhed (58) and Will Palmer (27no) led the home side to 130. Les Rendell (4-28) and Russell Hilton (3-13) were the main wicket takers for the Witheridge-based side who were then bowled out for 97. Ryan Bowden top scored with 34 whilst Palmer completed a fine all-round game for the table toppers with 4-13 from his nine overs.

Victoria Park II bagged their first victory of the season with a seven-wicket win at Filleigh III. Jack Wakeley top scored with 18 as the home side were bowled out for 92. Giles Bashford (3-1), Dave Smale (2-4) and Steve Oliver (2-19) shared the wicket taking duties for Victoria Park who were then led to victory by Joe Wolfe (53no) and Matthew Dennis (22no).

Hatherleigh II were 80-1 at Newton Tracey II where the home side had been restricted to 180-5. Andy Chatham (69) and Ollie Simmons (32) were the main run getters for the home side.

Spare a thought for new boys Dulverton. They suffered their fifth washout in nine matches when their home game with Barnstaple & Pilton III was called off.
