Nick's victorious squad of players - spot the famous faces!
HOWZAT for a great day out! Nick Evanson’s 500th game celebration at Torquay CC proved to be a huge success.
Nick has been 1st XI scorer at the Recreation Ground for 25 years and last weekend clocked up his 500th consecutive game for the club.
Sadly for Torquay they lost to Plymouth in the landmark match, but it was all smiles 24 hours later when Nick’s Anniversary team played and beat a Chairman’s team by six wickets.
“The match was a great success and we raised more than £500 for the Devon Air Ambulance,” said Nick.
“It was absolutely fantastic to catch up with so many old friends
“From the messages on social media, all the players enjoyed themselves - the banter was excellent so I hear.
“Prior to the match both teams made presentations to me.
“It will certainly be a day I'll never forget - roll on 6 June, 2042, the date when I will reach a thousand games!”
Players came from far and wide to take part in the game, among them former Torquay overseas player Des Kruger, who travelled down from Somerset.
The Chairman’s XI made 188 all out – Justin Yau top scoring on 41
Nick’s team got home by six wickets with four overs to go, Jack Richardson making a top score of 48.
Exeter’s Adam Gribble was named man of the match for his four-for-15 haul for Nick’s team.
