City pair clash looking for first win of season

PLYMOUTH and Plympton clash at Mount Wise without a win between them this season.

It’s four years since the sides last met in anything other than T20 games so the derby game was always going to be spicy.

The lack of a win will spice it up a bit more.

“With both teams looking for that first win we expect Plymouth to be full on, but they can expect the same from us,” said Plympton captain James Carr.

Keeper-batter Dam Robotham plays for the first time this season having been delayed in Australia, where he played during our winter. He replaces Ollie Mulberry, who drops into the 2nd XI for the chance to score some runs.

Ross Farrer come out from behind the stumps and takes his place In the bowling attack, serving up off-breaks.

Seamer Matt Gregory comes back in for Jamie Lee.

“Jamie Lee has a hip injury so we are giving him a rest,” said Carr.

“He played the first two with it and we can't carry on with how it is at present.”

Sam Stein, the Plymouth captain, agreed fully with Carr’s view of the game.

“A local derby always puts a bit more on the game,” said Stein.

“We are in need of our first win and against Plympton at home is no better place to get it.

“We now just need to put everything together and start performing as one.

“If this happens I am confident that we can come away with a good result.

“We are looking to get started straight from the off and play positively.

“I feel if we start to get on a role we can start to pull a few points back for us.

“As soon as we get our first win on the board we’ll be able to start to build some momentum.”

Dave Burke and George Stephenson have come in to cover for non-availablilty.
