MATT Gregory held Plympton’s middle order together to set up a 60-run win at Barton.
Gregory top scored with 37 not out, batting through to the end in a tally of 193 for eight.
Along the way Gregory put on 46 for the fourth wicket with Dave Wrench (13) and 47 with acting captain Ross Farrer (15) after a mini-collapse to 117 for seven.
Earlier, Craig Miles marked his return to the 1st XI with 36.
Barton shared the wicket-taking around with Tom Drake taking three for 36 and Denovan Ekstraal two for 19. Generously, they gave Plympton 53 in extras
Barton lost dangerman Shaun Needham for 13 to Jamie Lee, and were 33 for five when the well set Dale Adderley was dismissed for 28.
Ekstraal (33) kept going for a while, but Farrer (4-17) and Ryan Skinner (3-27) whittled away the rest of the Barton batting.
The last five Barton wickets went for just one run between them, leaving Tom Porter stranded on 25 not out.
Farrer, standing in for skiper James Carr and vice-captain Craig Donohue who were both unavaialble, said Gregory’s effort with the bat could not be under estimated.
“Craig Miles batted well, Wrenchie offered good support but Matt was brilliant,” said Farrer.
“Thanks to Matt we got into the 190s, which is a very good score at Barton.
“Then we took wickets consistently, All round, it was a good effort.”
