Premier headlines - May 26

BOVEY Tracey opened up a 16-point lead at the top of the Premier Division table after handing out an 85-run hiding to previously unbeaten Bradninch.

Something had to give in the clash between the only 100 per cent sides left in the top flight and it proved to be the Bradninch batting that gave way.

Peter Bradley hit a top score of 63 as Bovey were restricted to 184 for eight in their 50 overs - Gary Chappell the pick of the Bradninch bowlers with three for 25.

Bradninch got to 37 without loss in reply - them lost five wickets for seven runs to Peter Bradley (3-20) and Neil Hancock (2-31) and were under the cosh  from then on.

James Street (23no) and Joe Webb (22) staged something of a fightback, but spinner Chris Bradley put and end to their fun and went on to take four for 14 as Bradninch were dismissed for 99 inside 26 overs.

Torquay bounced back from their defeat at Bradninch by administering an 85-run beating as well - in their case on visiting Sidmouth;

Somerset's Max Waller mad a top score of 54 on his Torquay debut in a total of 226 for eight.

Along the way he shared sands of 49 with Brandon Handley (25) and Justin Yau (20). Scot Baldry (27) and Joe Thompson (24) chipped in down the order.

Liam Lewis (4-76) was Sidmouth's leading wicket-taker, although he took some punishment at the end.

Sidmouth lost Josh Bess two balls after tea, got to 45 without further incident thanks to Peter Randerson - the saw five wickets go for 13 runs to a combination of Nick Watkin (4-25) and a run out.

Sam Anderson struck 55 in an attempt to rescue the situation, but spinners Aqeel Ahmed and Waller (3-53) ran through the rest of the batting as Sidmouth where sent packing for 141.

Exmouth won for the second game in succession as they turned Plymouth over by 101 runs.

Barney Huxtable made 65 and Andy Buzza 51 in Exmouth's 269 for seven, then Akeel Hosein (4-29) and David Lye (3-32) removed Plymouth for 168.

Rob Gear slammed129 and Dan Bowser 76 as North Devon totted up 299 for five against lowly Heathcoat.

Glenn Querl (5-20) and Paul Heard (3-22) headed the bowling effort as Heathcoat were all out for 112 - last man Andrew Birt-Mitchell top scoring on 25.

Sandford chased down 211 to win against Budleigh Salterton with more than three overs to spare.
