TSHEPO Legodi and Richard Nelsey steered Exeter to a two wicket win over Cornwood to clinch second place behind Bovey Tracey in the Premeir Division.
Cornwood – 88 for five after a going over from Pete Hensor (4-33) recovered to reach 171 for six with Dave Walter hitting an unbeaten 62.
Exeter were 98 for five and struggling against Andy Bees (2-33) and Matt Petherbridge (3-51) when Legodi (46) and Nelsey got together.
Legodi went at 154 for six, but Nelsey batted through to make 42 not out.
Leaders Bovey were confirmed as champions two days before the final round of games when Tavistock cried off and gifted them 20 points.
Going down with Tavistock are Exmouth, who could only manage a losing draw with Sidmouth.
Skipper Matt Hewer blazed way for 119 as Sidmouth hoisted 274 for seven. Along the way there was stands of 90 with Will Sobcjak (42), 77 with Will Gater (21) and 33 with Saju Patidar (54no) as the bowlers toiled in vain.
Exmouth ran out of time at 214 for eight – Aaron Conway (62) and Donovan Robinson (40) the leading run getters.
Plympton took the points they needed to be safe despite losing by nine wickets to Plymouth.
Martin Gill led the wicket-taking for Plymouth with five for 40 as Plympton were dismissed for 160 – Sean Smith making 45.
Callum Whittaker (76no) and Alex Hill (73no) earned Plymouth maximum points.
Paignton were well beaten by North Devon in their final game of the season.
Callum Stanley (49), Justin Mann (63no) and Harry Ward, who made 21 not out in a ninth-wicket stand of 55 with Mann, helped Paignton to 178 all out.
Ward then took three for 44 to slow North Devon’s chase, but with Richard Clarke making 40 and McCauley Hooton-Harrison 36 they got there in the end.
