GLENN Querl won't be allowed to bowl in Devon League Cricket if he returns to club side North Devon from Hampshire.Querl, North Devon's club professional for the past two seasons, has been on a summer contract at Hampshire this season in the hope of landing a full-time deal.
Question marks over Querl's bowling action were raised with the ECB, which issued a bowling suspension earlier this week until the technical issues raised are cured.
Gloucestershire's Jack Taylor - he had played against Devon for Oxfordshire in the Minor Counties Championship - is another player banned from bowling.
The wording of the ECB's bowling ban on Querl and Taylor only specified 'England and competitive county cricket' - not mentioning List A, Second Eleven Trophy or ECB Premier League games.
Devon is an ECB-sanctioned Premier League so officials felt it was wise to check the scope of the ban.
'We received confirmation from ECB that this suspension also applies to all forms of competitive cricket,' said Devon League administrator Geoff Coish.
'Glenn, is not permitted to bowl in any Devon League Cricket matches and any other competitive cricket in our county, this has also been confirmed by the Devon Cricket Board.
'Glenn may of course play in any of our matches but only to field and bat.
'The length of the suspension will be advised direct to Glen by the ECB and copied to us.'
The ECB statement said in full:
Glenn Querl and Gloucestershire's Jack Taylor have both been reported on two separate occasions within a 12-month period and have undergone independent analysis.
'In both cases no previous evidence was available and hence their bowling actions were subject to the independent analysis process set out in the ECB regulations for the review of bowlers reported with suspected illegal bowling actions.
'This analysis took place on Monday, May 20, 2013. The report of the independent analysis was received by ECB on Tuesday, May 28, 2013."
'The reports identified that the bowling actions of each player displayed elbow extension in excess of the permitted 15 degrees during analysis.
'This analysis follows the same procedures used by the International Cricket Council in such circumstances.
'Consequently and in accordance with the regulations, both Querl and Taylor are suspended from bowling for England and in competitive county cricket until such time as they have submitted to a fresh independent analysis in which it is concluded that they have remedied their actions.
'The suspension is with immediate effect.'
Hampshire have said they will work with Querl to rectify the problem with his bowling action, which may mean he won't be available for North Devon in the near future.
Matt Dart, the North Devon captain, said he hoped Hampshire could work it through as Querl only has one aim in life.
'Glenn is desperate to make a career in county cricket and all of us at North Devon really feel for him.
'The good news is Hampshire have said they want to work with Glenn to sort out the problem.
'If Glenn is staying up there for remedial work, hopefully he won't be coming back to us at all. It is good for him they want to do that, not show him the door.'
