Devon flew out from Exeter on Friday evening to play Scotland in their latest County Championship fixture at Watsonians CC in Edinburgh. A damp evening did not make things look too good for the following day but thankfully the rain abated to allow a full match to be played. Devon asked their hosts to bat and on a remarkably good wicket Scotland made a decent start as their openers added 73 before Kathryn White was trapped lbw by Cathy Griffin. With good contributions from skipper Carrie Anderson (30) and youngster Lisa Kasperek (41), Scotland were well placed at 157-3 to set a challenging total. Rebecca Piddock bowled exceptionally tidily to finish with 1-18 from 7 overs but plaudits must go to Giselle Ansley who returned to claim 4-25 from her ten overs with Heather Knight picking up 2-28.
In reply a solid opening stand of 52 between Heather Knight and Vicky Bowden layed the foundation for what would prove to be a 7 wicket win. Bowden was caught behind for eleven as she looked to increase her scoring and when skipper Lottie MIles shuffled across her stumps and was bowled for 0, Knight was joined by keeper Amara Carr. Together the pair added 107 for the 3rd wicket, Carr for the most part outscoring her senior partner. She was out lbw for an excellent 49 which left the ever impressive Knight to complete the victory to finish on an unbeaten 100.
