Sidmouth celebrate another double
SIDMOUTH celebrated twice as hard at their end-of-season awards night after doing the double again.

For the fourth time in five years Sidmouth were crowned Devon League Premier Division champions back in September.

Six days earlier they had already hoisted the Devon KO Cup for the second year running, beating Bovey Tracey on the Fortfield in the final.

The last time Sidmouth did the double was in 2009.

The get together was held at the Woodlands Hotel in Sidmouth, attended by more than 50 players, past players and members.

Cricket chairman Mike Dibble gave an entertaining speech, highlighting the club’s successes over the summer.

Special praise was reserved for captain Will Murray and his number two Nick Gingell, who is stepping down for the 2013 season.

The 2nd and 3rd XIs had improved seasons and captains Matt Hewer and Graham Munday were thanked for their contributions. Both led by example in their teams – Hewer with the bat and Munday with the ball.

Josh Bess received the highest score award for his century against Torquay.

Individual award winners were: 1st XI batsman - Anthony Griffiths (top right); 1st XI bowler - Will Murray; 2nd XI batsman - Matt Hewer (bottom right); 2nd XI bowler - Charlie Dibble (bottom left); 3rd XI  batsman - Simon Sobczak; 3rd XI bowler - Graham Munday; 1st XI highest score - Josh Bess; playing clubman - John Goodwin; non-playing clubman - John Palmer; most promising colt - Dominic Bess; most improved player - Anthony Dibble; services to cricket - Di Wadsworth and players’ player - Matt Cooke (top right).
