Parsons' five-wicket haul rare highlight for South Devon
SOUTH Devon celebrated the highlights of a disappointing summer at their end-of-season awards evening.

The 1st XI had a summer to forget in most respects as they were relegated from the A Division of the Francis Clarke Devon League without winning a game.

Having only just been promoted back into the A Division, it was a huge setback for the club to drop back again.

Among the debris of the season was a first five-wicket haul for teenage seam bowler Jonty Parsons, who was awarded the Bill Dalton Cup for the best performance of the season by a 1st XI player.

The Tony Richardson Cup, which goes to the club player of the year irrespective of the team they play in, was awarded to Matt Blackmore (pictured, right).

Blackmore hit 416 runs at an average of nearly 50 for the 2nd XI. The 2nd XI player of the year award went to Kevin Murphy (pictured left).

The Committee Trophy – awarded for the most exciting innings – was claimed by 2nd XI batsman Paul Hooper.

Hooper flogged 81 not out off 42 balls against Kingsbridge to win the trophy.

The 1st XI bowler of the year award went to David Knowles (below) with 15 scalps.

The awards night was held at the Ten Tors pub in Kingsteignton and attended by around 40 members and friends of the club.

The awards were handed out by Chris Hart on behalf of sponsors Wollen Michelmore.
