Dormant club looking to pass on kit

JUNIOR cricketers could benefit from a generous donation of kit.

Helmets and bags from the defunct Starcross Cricket Club junior team are being offered to a good home.

Former team coach Nigel Stoneman and his wife Sally are looking for a bona fide junior side who can make use of the kit currently being stored in the garage at their home.

Sally said: ‘The team folded some time ago but we still have equipment including helmets and bats.

‘We would really like it to go to a good home but we are looking for a genuine team to make use of it.

‘It seems silly to keep it in store when it could go to a worthwhile home and for other youngsters to benefit.’

When in existence, the club had made substantial efforts to secure grants to provide the equipment.

However, the cricket pitch in the village is now a football pitch.

Sally said: ‘It’s a shame as we worked really hard to get this equipment.

‘But once the pitch was turned into a football pitch, there’s no getting it back.’

Any clubs with junior sections who would be interested in the kit can contact Mr and Mrs Stoneman on 07762 384333.
